Just want to thank god for the opportunity not only to be here but to get the chance to play rugby here. I want to recognise Kellian Gallutier, Pat O’Toole, and Cam Dolan, who were a massive part of this team, and I wish them well for the future as they finish their careers. Also, a massive thanks to my captain, Tesimoni Tongauiha, who achieved 100 caps for Nola Gold. He’s the epitome of what a rugby player is, and I’ve cherished every moment playing alongside him. Thank you to the coaches for trusting in my ability, the staff for showcasing my image, and of course, the players for being a true team that’s supportive and like brothers to me. My biggest gratitude has to go to the woman of my life and the mother of our son, my partner Atawhai. She has been the biggest inspiration to why I continue to play, without her support I wouldn’t be the player/man I am today on and off the field. This award means the world to me and I think there definitely a few contenders that could’ve taken it. I strive to be the best version of myself when I play, to be recognised as player of the year is truly a blessing.
