Catch up on the NOLA Gold Rugby Academy Combine recap, where over 70 talented young athletes showcased their skills. Plus, don’t miss the upcoming Brother Martin vs. Jesuit match on Feb 20th at City Park Field.
This past Sunday was a monumental day for NOLA Gold Rugby as we hosted our highly anticipated Academy Combine! The event brought together over 70 talented young athletes from across Louisiana, all eager to showcase their skills and take their rugby journey to the next level.
Our U18 and U16 Academy teams are designed to nurture local high school rugby players, helping them develop into future stars on the Gold roster. By investing in homegrown talent, we’re laying the foundation for a stronger, more dynamic NOLA Gold team for years to come.
The combine saw student-athletes from schools including Baton Rouge Catahoulas, Jesuit, Brother Martin, Archbishop Shaw, St. Paul, Warren Easton, East Jefferson, Hammond High School, and more. These young players demonstrated incredible dedication, athleticism, and passion for the game.
Throughout the day, the athletes underwent a series of rigorous tests to assess their agility, gym strength, and overall fitness. Skill drills challenged their technical abilities, and a live scrimmage put their game knowledge and teamwork to the test.
With each sprint, tackle, and strategic play, these young athletes proved that the future of rugby in New Orleans is in great hands. The commitment to developing local talent remains at the heart of our Academy program, ensuring that the next generation of NOLA Gold players is ready to shine on the professional stage.
We want to extend a huge thank you to all the players, coaches, and families who participated and supported this incredible event. The journey is just beginning for these young athletes, and we can’t wait to see them grow and develop in the NOLA Gold Academy.
Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to build the future of NOLA Gold Rugby!
